What Does the Buscadero BSX 140 Pit Bike Bring to OVRLND's Toyota Giveaway?

The BSX 140 listed spec by spec: 140cc, four-speed manual, electric start and disc brakes. Entries close December 3.

In OVRLND's Toyota giveaway, the pickup gets the headlines and the pit bike gets a line or two. This article flips that around. It goes through the Buscadero BSX 140 one spec at a time, using only what the giveaway page lists.

EngineA 140cc engine sets the tone

The first line on the giveaway page's pit bike list is the engine: 140cc. That figure is the displacement, so it tells you how big the engine is, not how fast the bike goes. The page does not list a top speed or a horsepower number, so neither will we.

GearboxFour speeds, shifted by hand

Behind the engine sits a four-speed manual transmission, worked through a manual clutch. In plain terms, the rider works the clutch and picks the gear. There is no automatic mode listed.

StartingElectric start

The page lists electric start. That means the engine fires up with a button instead of a kick lever. It is a short line on the list, but it answers a real question about how the bike gets going.

Stopping and suspensionDisc brakes at both ends

Both wheels get a disc: the page lists front and rear disc brakes. It also says upgraded suspension, without naming the parts. In the photos you can see a gold-colored fork leg up front, but the page gives no travel figures, so we will not guess at them.

LooksRetro-inspired styling

The giveaway page describes the bike's look as retro-inspired. In the photos, that shows up as a round number plate on the front and a plain white fender.

A compact, easy-to-transport design

The page calls the bike a compact, easy-to-transport design. One winner receives the truck, the bike and a $15,000 cash award. The rules put all other expenses of accepting or using the prize on the winner.

What is, and is not, in the prize

The Official Rules list three things in the Grand Prize: a 1986 Toyota truck, a pit bike, and cash of $15,000. The rules put the Approximate Retail Value for the entire Grand Prize at $94,000. The rules add that the prize vehicle comes "AS IS" with no Sponsor warranty, and that registration and licensing costs for the automobile are the winner's. Read the Official Rules for the full list of conditions.

Common questions

Is the clutch manual or automatic?

Manual. The page pairs a four-speed gearbox with a clutch the rider operates.

How does the BSX 140 start?

By electric start, per the giveaway page, which lists it next to the gearbox and clutch.

What is the top speed or horsepower?

The giveaway page does not give either number, so this article does not either.

Does the winner get the bike and the truck?

Yes. A single Grand Prize covers the truck, the bike and the cash award. See the Official Rules.

Who is eligible?
